| Senior Member | what do you guys think about this spotting scope? I found it for $90 online and it comes with a soft carry case and a tripod. it also has a moveable front piece to help reduce glare but gather more light. I want something to be able to see my targets for grouping sizes out to 500yds or so. Is Barska a good quality brand? I don't know anything about spotting scopes except for the fact that I need one .Thanks guys and gals, Chris.

| Senior Member | How much of a difference is there between the 25-75x75mm and the 25-75x100mm other than a little larger size and $110 more for the 25-75x100mm?

| Senior Member | cremley: Sir; my discovery; the bigger the end piece the more light gathering takes place. Supposed to be ?better? [in this case I haven't found out what better really is.} I seriously looked at the BARSKA; my initial gut said good. Exploring more; got less and less excited. birding.com or something like that; have 'units' that are comparable to what we could be using. "My" thinking: These folks are trying to see details about bird size color feet and a whole bunch of other stuff that I don't have a need to know: What I'm trying to learn from them, WHAT WORKS @ distances giving them detail and color variances. This would help me see, and would allow enjoy looking at something. Some of these units are $$$$$$$ some have given me problems just trying to see, some are too complicated [for me] and some I haven't had the opportunity yet. So back to square 1. The bigger allows more light to reach your eye; the more light translates to; darker the day is; the more light gathering ability you have available. I hope like $ell this makes sense to you.

| Senior Member | Thanks for the Info neophyte. I think the best think for you is to just pick a price range that you want to spend, look at the good quality brands like nikon, leupold, zeiss, bushnell, etc...., that fit in that price range, and just flip a coin. more than likely you will end up with something that is pretty good. If you do too much research, you end up not liking anything and then you get a big headache and never even buy one. just try to find one with a return policy and try it out. if you don't like it, send it back and get another. I hope this helps. GlockMeister, that was the spotting scope that I was looking at from that sight that you referred to me earlier. I may just go ahead and purchase it because it seems like a pretty good scope for what I want. Do you know anything about Barska though?
