this is fascinating thank you!
Minute of Anglen. One sixtieth of one degree or 1/21600th of a circle. Subtended to 100 yards one MOA is just slightly over one inch. Riflescope's reticle adjustments are usually calibrated in fractions of MOA, for example, 1/2MOA or 1/4MOA. Since even expensive scopes are not really that precise, this can be thought of as 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch at 100 yards, respectively. MOA is a more convenient term, however, since it is not tied to a particular distance.
Leupold is known for its fantastic customer service, providing lifetime maintenance and repair of their products, usually for no charge. They define the middle and middle-high end of the market, and are the usual standard of price comparison for low-end and low-middle-end value competitors. Leupold scopes typically feature more eye relief and less critical eye relief than other brands, making them very popular with hunters. feature for feature they do not appear to compare price-wise to import scopes, and some European scope fanciers hold them in disdain compared to their own (pricey) optics. Nonetheless they've built a fanatical following with a combination of great service, sturdy, reliable scopes and attainable prices.
i have felt this way all along

Yes billy i was able to find their website. I was looking spcificly for reviews like guns and ammo, or rifleman magazine something along those lines. Mueller seems to be very low on the radar of most outfitters and magazines.
Any good scope should have maximum eye relief. I have some Chinese scopes, a Sightron 3x9x42 and a Shooter's Edge 4x16x40. Both keep zero, and are clear glass. The Simmons 22.mag works great on my CZ 452. The next one I get will be made in America.

this is probably because they can't afford the high price to advertise so these magazines would be less incline to rate them and give them free publicity.
I have never bought a gun simply because it was recommended by any of these popular magazines. I like getting my opinion from gun test where they have no advertisers and more often than not you will hear them say this gun is crap than this is a sugar coated crappy gun from these popular magazines.
BTW since i saw redfield scopes being mentioned, i do own a varmint scope from redfield before they went out of business. If any of you need service work done on it outside of Meade's warranty, they contract ALL their work to Iron Sight Inc. Scope Repair and these guys are very reasonable in pricing!

Cheap scopes.. Hmmm. You get what you pay for yes... HOWEVER! You DONT always get AS MUCH as you pay for either. With this being said I will give you an example of a bad case / good case scenario with cheap gun scopes...
I just bought a new rifle...could NOT WAIT to scope that purdy lil sucker. So, I fell for an advertisement (of course). please read...
6-24X50mm w built in sun shade. Ill mil dot reticle. Target style turrets w auto re-zero. 1/8" adj @ 100yds. .50 caliber shock proof, fog proof, anti-glare coated lenses. Rings included please specify high or medium at time of ordering....and so it goes... right? Ok, heres the kicker...1 year full replacement warranty, lifetime limited, and (drum roll please...) $129.00!!!
Well why not I say! And a week later I was a proud new owner. I eagerly placed it atop a remington 30.06. I laser bore sighted and anticipated the weekend to come...
It came. And as i lay there in prone, exhaling...squeezing...PLOW!...Kerchunk!!!
I never saw through that scope again. The insides appeared to have taken a short journey through a tall blender. I was mortified. The agony....
So, since I knew the scope was junk I figured it would be a great time to test the warranty!!!
Free replacement... NO problems at all. But upon the NOT so anticipated arrival of my SECOND NEW scope, I decided to put it on a 10/22.
We both lived happily ever after, and I am extremely please with the product. (so long as it is on something with no recoil to speak of)
They did in fact advertise a medium quality, densly featured scope, that performes spectacularly.. so long as you dont fall for the ENTIRE advertisement... (.50 cal shock proof my butt)
Here is a pic of the scope and the rifle that loves it.
I know this is a little off subject but does anyone know where I might be able to purchase a scope for a 8mm mauser?? I just started collecting old war guns but none have a scope. any info would be helpful.
