| Bipod Question Hey guys I got my savage 204 low profile today, and with it a harris bipod for it. My question is do you need to buy an adapter for the flat for end of my gun like it says in the manual (very unhelpful)? It looks like the stud on the forend isnt long enough to clear the clamp from the bipod meaning metal would dig into the wood. Am I supposed to crank it down until the metal goes into the stock, or is there an adapter for me? Any help is appreciated guys, and ill get picks up for ya later |

| you shouldnt need an adapter for that rifle. if your using a harris bipod, it will pull itself tight to the stock as you tighten the nut. just give it a try, you'll know when to stop. |

| I know how to get it to tighten, but in the bipods book it says it wont fit on flat fore ends (which it looks like i have) and by looking at it i can tell the metals going to go into the wood around the stud if i tighten it all the way. Im not saying your wrong, i just dont want to screw up a gun with zero rounds through it lol. Does anyone have this gun and or a bipod for it, id sure like to have the bipod on for sighting. I just tried it again, and theres not even enough clearance to get the studs into the sling, the claws hit the wood first so you cant even begin to tighten it. | if the metal parts that attatch to the stud are going to dig into the stock, you need to put a spacer under the sling swivel stud, because the stud is set to deep in the stock. the flat forend adapter only sandwiches between the stock and bipod, the bipod is still what attatches to the stud, and will still dig into the stock even with the adapter in place. as i have one, and have used the flat forend adapter, my own experience tells me that you do not need the adapter. actually i believe your more likely to mar your stock using the adapter than if you did not use it. |

| I have a Savage 10FP with a Bell & Carlson Medalist Stock...which has a flat forestock. I use a standard Harris BiPod WITHOUT the flat stock adaptor and it works fine. Just make sure the BiPod is staight when tightening up. You mentioned that the BiPod attachment did not reach the swivel stud. Make sure the screw on the BiPod is fully unscrewed and then push the attachment plates toward the stud to attach. Good luck. |
