| Never had that problem.Really if you are shooting cast bullets with gas checks there should be little need for brushes except the nylon and possibly a brushup with a bronze.Usually Hoppes #9 copper solvent and a lot of patches is all I use. Some good pistoleros use boresnakes but I never did.I dont use strong solvents on handguns except rare cases. sam. |

| spiritual counselor ![]() ![]() | there is some crap in the bbls. of the uberti's that i would like to get out but if the bristles dont make contact with the bbl. surface why are they made? im gonna find a shotgun brush or something that actually fits in my 1911, r.bull and these two maybe wrap it in brasso so that a cleaning surface touches a dirty surface?

| I never saw a .45 cal brush that didnt fit the bore.On the Uberti,s you should be safe but on other guns you often have chrome bores and I hate using metal brushes. If you can,put the brush in an electric variable speed drill and you should be able to use them.Or use either a .50cal or ,20ga brush. sam. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | Sounds like you got that batch of .44 brushes that were mislabeled as .45's ! Rich

| Have you used the bronze brushes with a copper fouling solvent? that stuff will eat your brushes fast! I know that isn't what happened but thought I would bring it up just in case!

| Senior Member ![]() | It works for me. I shorten the shotgun rod to pistol length. I know .410 is basically a .41 caliber & one might think, hey, were talking .45. True, but the .410 shotgun brush seems to be a tad bigger, I assume to fit the chamber area of the shotgun. Next time I get near the brush I'll hit it with the calipers. .480 rougly I didn't have a .45 pistol brush to compare with due to using the shotgun brushes.
