range with silencer

Does a silencer on any gun reduce the range of the bullet?

To use a silencer properly, you need to use reduce speed bullets. If your not below the speed of sound in won't be quiet. This reduced speed in itself will reduce range. Case in point=my 15" 300 whisper is quite accurate at 300 yds. with 150gr.bullets. To run with suppresor you need to go up to 220 gr. Will need to make change in elevation for same point of impact. Don't have any pics. but a 300 whisper with 220 gr. is a strange looking critter.
