Springfield Trapdoor

Am I correct that this is what Custer and his men used at the Little Bighorn, and is chambered in 45-70?

Part of me has this urge to see a reproduction of one and load it woth black powder, using a chrome lined bore to retard corrosion by black powder. What say ye all?

The ultimate heresy - a Springfield Trapdoor reproduction in stainless steel with a synthetic pistol grip folding stock, 16" carbine barrel, and weaver scope rail with optional laser site.

But it seriously would be cool to have a reproduction made with modern machinery to improve precision, and modern materials to improve strength, safety, and corrosion resistance (internal only). Hunting with such a rifle has its appeal.
