| Mr. Fixit ![]() | Star tryout. Welp, I'm headin' to the farm to try out the new Star Super and my handloads for it. Should be interesting since I modified it slightly to accept .38 Super brass which is much easier to find.

| Mr. Fixit ![]() | WooHoo! The Star is a shooter. My shooting today was very limited and informal due to shooting in a big muddy cotton field on the only dry spot I could find, but that communist tin can never had a chance!

| Excellent! Mine has been a good shooter, but my ammo selection has been limited down here. I really need to get the dies and start reloading it, as Starline has the Largo brass.

| Mr. Fixit ![]() | I started to buy the largo brass from Starline but didn't want to spend $55.00 on 500 rds of brass not knowing if the gun was going to shoot worth a flip or not. FWIW, Graf & Sons sells it in 100 rd quantities for around $11-12. Instead, I shortened the extractor hook and relieved the underside to match a .38 Super case and then relieved the barrel where the loaded chamber projections are. I may have to smooth up the extractor hook a tad as I had 1 rd hang about halfway chambered and found a small burr on the hook that wouldn't let the rim slide correctly. It may already be gone as all of the others worked fine. I figure this way I can use light .38 Super factory ammo as well if I don't have time to reload any. I think largo ammo will still extract ok as well, but don't have any to try.
