| Makarov or Tokarev? I have both a makarov and a tokarev. I'm not sure which I like better. The makarov shoots where I aim it and I like the idea of double action for carry but the tokarev shoots tighter groups although a little left and low. They are both reliable carry guns but the tok is actually slimmer. It's also a blast to shoot. I love the big blue flame out of the muzzle. Does anyone else out there own either of these fine surplus pistols? What do you like or dislike about them? |

| I cannot shoot any Tokarev out of the box. They just don't fit me. They are only manageable (for me) with a slip-on rubber grip. I would vote for the Makarov. A much-more-modern design. |

| Senior Member | I admire both pistols but I'd have to choose the Tokarev. For conceal carry, you would probably be better suited with a nice Makarov rather than a Tokarev mostly because of the safety and size of the pistol. But in general the Tokarev is a great design, possibly more reliable than the 1911 and much more simple. Tokarev's aren't strait copy's of Browning's design like most would think but use basically the same system of locking and have a very similar general appearance. Mine is a modern incarnation, the Norinco 213 in the more readily available 9x19mm. It's also in stainless steel and built by Norinco's factory 66. I would love an old Russian 7.62x25mm, though! http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tokarevpf7.jpg A beauty shot of my $150 9mm Tokarev. <3 |

| I'm talking about the tokarev auto pistol in 7.62x25. The revolver is called a nagant and it is less powerful. I'll try to post a picture later. |
