Steyr 1895 Stutzen Gun Test and Aucion Proposal

Several of us on the Mosin Forum have been talking about doing an informal Gun test on the Steyr 1895 carbine. We are working on the details of the plan at this time. I would like to throw the idea out there to let everyone know what we are working on and how it may work.

I am in contact with Chris and am working on some details. Right now we are thinking about pooling our resources, purchasing a rifle and having it shipped to us for testing. At first the rifle will be shipped to one of us, this may change depending on what Chris thinks, and two of us will clean and examine the rifle. Then we will take it to the range and see how it shoots. After that we will write a complete gun test just like a real gun writer would and publish it here in this forum.

After the test is completed we will auction off the rifle to a select group. IE, those that support it. The bidding will start at the purchase price of the rifle. The proceeds will be donated to Gun and game. My hope is that everyone will be so impressed with this fast handling little carbine that they will bid it way up!

Like I said we are still working on the details of how best to do this. This gun test should be initially funded through donations. Right now we have 4 of us that have committed funds to this project. Of course the more people we get interested and committed the less each individual cost will be. This plan may change a little depending on what our intrepid leader comes up with.
