| SVT-40 Range Report We got out to the range today to try out the '41 SVT-40. I had adjusted the gas system to a setting of 1.3 and proceeded to fire some crappy Olympic ammo with 180gr FMJBT bullet. I had no problems for about 20 rounds and then had a dud. Not surprising for Olympic. I also noticed some weak extractions on a few rounds. Then while my wife was firing she had a FTE and the bolt was locked solid. A rubber hammer got the case out. Fired another round, same problem. I adjusted the gas system to 1.5 and we had no further issues with an additional 100 rounds. This rifle is an absolute joy to shoot! Light weight, minimal recoil, lots of blast and fury! Feeds and fires flawlessly with the gas system adjusted properly. It is also accurate producing 2.5" to 3" groups at 100 yards on iron sights even with poor quality ammo and my marginal eyesight. Our new favorite firearm! Here's a pic of my little wife in action: ![]() |

| That is great. I have an SVT40 also. I have yet to shoot it. Is there a manual online so I can understand how the gas system works? |
