| General shooting accuracy question Hello all, Ive been told lately that there is a problem with sniper shooting\firing to long distances- The fact that the shooting finger does not push the trigger in accordance with the axis of the gun, but create an angel, is suppose to create a slight deviation of the barrel- hence a slight deviation of the shooting, when shooting to very long distances. Does anyone know about this problem? Im not reffering to fire firing techniques, but to an internal problem, if it does exist. Thanks |

| Extremes It is absolutely true that few, if any, people exert pull energy directly back on a trigger parallel to the axis of the bore and this can have a destabilizing effect on the rifle unknown/unperceived to the shooter. One manner of compensation is to have the rifle anchored with a bipod attached to the forestock. Long distance shooters need all the stability possible when firing their rifles. The further a bullet travels the greater will be the effect of any deviating force at the time of firing. However, it is worth noting crossing winds can have a greater effect on a bullet at very long range. Also, when discussing extremes factors such as air density, relative humidity, and temperature can play a part. Your thoughts are correct yet note, in general, other forces will have a greater effect on a bullet before it reaches a very long range target. Good luck and good shooting Last edited by nathangdad; 04-17-2008 at 05:36 AM. Reason: addition |
