Well i finally got one, after years of imagining one in my hands... Seems to be an arsenal refurb.

r = ruskie designation for year. It is however a refurb. Blued bolt carrier & pencil etched ser nr say so. Most likely one of the many brought in 15+ yrs ago. Sarge

Well congrats on that SVT40! Looks like a good one. The "r" is the Russian "г" (g in English) for the word "год" pronounced like god, with kind of a long O sound. What arsenal produced it? I guess I'd settle for an arsenal refurb too! I better start saving!

1941 Izzy, i wanted a Kovrov but the condition on this one was just too good. and kovrov is a little hard to find. And as far as an arsenal refurb goes, thats what i wanted too. The finn capture ones usually seem to be in poor condition.

| Yeah, I remember when they started to appear. Really nice SVT-40s were going for $125 then, but I was saving my pennies for my “third” M1 Garand instead. Garands were a then whopping $325 and I had a bad case of "Garand-mania" which knocked out my chance at getting a lot of "better" deals cropping up then.
