| Super Moderator ![]() | Makarov Carbine Being that the Makarov has a fixed barrel, suppose it might make a good basis for a carbine? Ammo's cheap, guns are cheap. Or is the thought of a carbinized Makarov pistol an abomination?

| Super Moderator ![]() | Me neither, but it could be cheap. Figure $150 Mak and $100 conversion kit, would be a novelty for Mak fans. Maybe it would be more practical just to make a kit. Would probably end up costing as much as a Kel Tec, but would be many times more durable. I guess Hi Point already fills the niche, though, with a single stack carbine shooting more powerful and more common 9mm for the price of a Mak, not Mak plus conversion. But the Mak carbine would be a Mak, for those who love the Mak.

| Could you simply rechamber a Hi-Point 9mm to the mak cartrige?? 9x17vs 9x18 I belive? a carbine in 7.62x25 would be intersting...but again the ammo is not as common as 9mm. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | 9x17mm is 380 ACP, also called 9mm Kurz 0.354" diameter bullets 9x18mm is Makarov, I think bullets are 0.362" or so 9x19mm is Luger/Parabellum, bullets are 0.354" like 380. So the Mak round is too wide simply to be rechambered in a 9x19mm barrel. Cryin shame. Of course 9mm Luger is NATO standard, cheaper, and more powerful, so it has all the advantages over the 9mm Mak except that it's not chambered in the beloved Makarov.
