| Super Moderator ![]() | Space age muzzle flip-less carbine We see space age guns that basically have a big loop in front of the grip, found in real like only on the AUG. Well I had an idea. Muzzle flip is caused by the barrel being on a higher axis than its support by the shooter. Not to do so would require a bit of engineering and a gun slightly longer than it would otherwise be. A design of mine places the barrel on the same level vertically as the center of the hand. A trigger linkage links to a FCG located beneath the trigger (or perhaps above the action instead of below). It would look a little bit like a reciprocating saw. This is basically the opposite of the bullpup, placing the action ahead of the grip instead of behind it, where it is normally above the grip in a modern military/police rifle. All this in order to accomplish zero muzzle flip. Would be a good design for a full auto gun.

| i would think that would translate alot of felt recoil wouldn't it.

| Super Moderator ![]() | I don't think it would be that much more. And due to the short length of the action, it would be best used with pistol calibers, so recoil wouldn't be much to begin with.

| Super Moderator ![]() | I just drew up a sketch and found that by most definitions it doesn't even have a pistol grip, as the action is in fact in front of and lower than the top of the grip. So even with the AWB, it could have a folding stock. Now I'm thinking about how a MAC carbine could be converted to this configuration with basically an anti-bullpup stock.
