357 Rem Mag in Straight Blowback?

I've been thinking for a while about making a 357 Rem Mag semi-auto carbine, and wonder if it would work in a recoil operated carbine or if it's too heavy for that, and would require a locking bolt and a gas system?

If it's recoil operated, I could use the same design for 45 ACP, 40 S&W, 357 SIG, 9x19mm, and 7.62x25mm. If it were gas operated, I could use the same design for 44 Rem Mag and 45-70.

Recently I had a chance to use a Marlin Papoose Model 70 backpacking 22RF. I kept thinking that this would be a real mice weapon if Marlin would turn it into a 357/38Spl bolt head and a magazine that starts with 357 Maxiumn ammo, then make barrels starting with the 357 Max, a 357 Mag, 38Spl, 256 Win.Mag, 224RCMax. The 16 inch barrel is held on with a alocking nut. The whole thing when in its case would fit into my bicycling backpack.
