At last

Hey there everyone.
So I moved to the city on Monday and at long last everything is unpacked and set up. Infact I just finished setting up my loading bench in my all new gun/rec room.
A while back I got me a set of dies for the 44mag, but with the moving to the city comeing up I never got around to loading any shells.
With the dies I got two cans of propellant, one is Winchester 296 the other says, Hercules Blue dot. I have never used either type of powder and have no Idea where to find load data. I will be shooting cast and jacketed bullets out of my winchester mod 94 anyone who can help would instantly be my best mate.
Regards

Both those powder will work just fine in the .44 magnum. Type ".44 magnum reloads" into your search engine and you should find plenty of data.

Thanks bookman,
I wanna ask all you guys opinion on the following.
The 94 I mentioned above is my truck gun, (Yotes, finishing of deer taht got hit on the highway etc) I am thinking of maybe hunting deer with it come next season, and might put a scope on it.
I want the rifle to still have the wonderfull balance it has now, it has to have a compact kinda scope and be rugged so that I dont need to resight it every 4months. What would you guys suggest?

I have an older Redfield 2.75X on my Marlin .44 and consider it a fine scope, but my gun doesn't ride in a truck, so I don't know how the (USA made)Redfield would handle the jarring. It handles recoil quite well; I have the same scope on my harder-kicking Marlin .45-70 and have never had a problem.

How much can I expect to pay for one?

Since my two 2.75X Redfields are used scopes that I acquired at local gun shops, it is hard to say what a reasonable price would be.

I bought one Redfield right off a used .30-30 on the rack, offered the dealer US$100 for the scope and he took it happily. It is not unusual here to buy a nice scope right off a used gun. Many dealers welcome being able to lower the retail cost of the gun by selling the scope separate.

By checking the 'net you can find used Redfields scopes for sale.

I had a Winchester 94 growing up in wooded NE Pennsylvania.

It was a hand-me-down and had taken many deer before I took a few more in my teen years.

I know that it has the power to do the job but I'd say it's a 100 yarder at best (although I could be wrong).

but in a wooded ara where 50 yards is the most you can get a clean through shot the caliber is good for deer.

John, you can get a very compact Nikkon 4X is you wish. Its a Wal-Mart scope, but the oe I have is very reliable, and lightweight as well. Just a thought...
