What's the best pistol carbine you have shot?

I have shot a few:
Thompson .45
Marlin Camp carbine .45
Uzi 9mm
Micro uzi 9mm
Special weapons Sw 45
Hi point 9mm

Out of these I have to say the following:

Best all around: SW 45 special weapons. Accurate, decent weight, reliable
Reliabilty: Thompson hands down
Worst: Micro uzi never could get more than 4 bullets in a row without jamming.

The camp carbine was ok but I am left handed and that is not a good rifle for a left handed person.

The Hi point surprised me. Better than I thought it would be.

For me, I've shot:
Highpoint 995 (9mmP)
Marlin Camp 45 (.45ACP)
Ruger PC9 (9mmP)
EMF M1892 lever-action (.38Spcl/.357MAgnum)
Beretta Storm (9mmP)
Cobray MAC-11 Semiauto (9mmP)

Best overall was the EMF lever gun. Deadly accurate, smooth action.
Highpoint is good and reliable, fairly accurate.
Marlin and Ruger were okay, kind of sedate and 'old fashioned'.
Beretta is nice, but way over-priced.
Cobray had uncomfortable grip, lots of trigger slap, wasn't accurate.

I had a Ruger 9mm carbine and I loved it! It was built like a tank. If you ran out of ammo, you could just club someone with it. It made an awsome beside the bed gun.

Having fired a Ruger PC9, a Marlin Camp 45, and a Marlin 1894 in 44 Rem Mag, I have to say that the Ruger was the nicest, while the Marlin the most practical, well, depending. The Ruger would be a good choice for home defense but the Marlin would be better for hunting. I guess considering most of the uses for pistol caliber carbines, the Ruger's a better idea, though I really wish they came in 45.

I have fire way too many to list but the best is The HK SP89 the semi version of the MP5K Subgun! Next would be a silenced UZI, followed by a Mac 10 !

Had and fired a few.
Marlin camp-9 shot ok,booger to clean,some accessories.
Feather AT-9 shot well, but after a while the extracter flew out, easy to re-install,but not for me,new ones have better extracter, lots of accessories, easy to clean.
Cobray with and with out H&K top with sights, fairly accurite, again extrater problems, new ones claim to have better extracter, easy to clean.
Ruger PC-9,like a tank,heavy but accurite and reliable,no accessories,hard to clean.
Baretta Storm9,accurite,light and easy to handle like a real subgun, reliable and easy to clean,my favorite so far.:right:

AR15 with an Olympic Arms .45acp upper. Other than a couple balky mags(hard to load) It was the most fun you could have with your clothes on. We went through 500+ rounds on three different outings. The owner was a USMC Embassy guard and I was babysitting some of his stuff while he was out of the country for 15 months. I wanted to get myself a copy of his but haven't got it done yet.

The PC9 with its basic one piece stock and minimal accessories seems a good home defense gun to me.

My experience is that converted subguns (to semi-auto only) make poor carbines in general. Too heavy, poor sights, poor comfort and ergonomics.

For instance, a Thompson weighs in around 12 pounds, compared to the SKS at 8 pounds. Which would you rather hump in the bush . . . ?

I had a Marlin Camp Carbine .45, it was okay but I had to modify the Magazine bolt hold open so I could apply upward pressure from the left side to lock open the bolt, because I didn't like the silly assed hold open by pushing in on the charging handle. I still don't understand why people insist on putting the charging handle on the right side of a right handed gun.

Question

It seems that a weapon with a pistol grip should have the lever on the left so as to keep a grip on the pistol grip,a weapon, rifle, may be held by the fore grip with the left hand and the lever might be better on the right side?

Thumbs up

Along that broomhandle line,(I always thought that would be cool with a stock),I had a Chinese contract wood stock and the matching Canadian Inglis Browning Hi-power 9mm pistol,a real blast to shoot, finally sold it for a 500% profit.

I have fired and own quite a few actually. most are lever guns, puma m92's in .357, .44, .45,.454,and .480. Also a keltec p2000 in .40s&w. All are a lot of fun to play with especially if you have a handgun in that cal. and don't want to take a bunch of different ammo to play with.
