Marlin 9mm camp carbine

I just got back from a gun show (I got to quit going to those things! lol) and picked up a new toy there.
A Marlin 9mm camp carbine in what looks like decent shape with scope,see-through mounts and folding stock.
I don't know much about the capibilities of this rifle so if anyone is familiar with it, educate me.
How does it shoot reliability-wise; performance of 9mm on range?
I've shot a 9mm pistol but haven't fired a rifle of that cal. yet. I bought it, I guess, to mate up with my 9mm handguns. I know it's ok for varmints but how will it do on larger game. Is it ok for say white-tail deer?
I know you guys out there have the knowledge I need, let me pick your brain.
Thanks for your input.

You have bought a great camp, home defense, short to mid range varmit gun. Deer, mabe not so good, as well as it may not be legal. (check local regulations) I know Arky is pretty liberal on what you can hunt deer with & they run small. So if it's legal and you have a good reliable round, keep it short (bow range) & in the bread basket
I have heard they are as reliable as the ammo and the magazines allow them to be.

Thanks Jerry,
I still want a larger cal. rifle for the bigger game so I'll keep this one for varmints and such.
I found a web site that has a lot of info. on the camp carbine plus a manual. I'm having trouble printing it out cause it's a pdf file and my printer doesn't like it I guess. It print tiny pages that my tired ol' eyes can't read. ha ha I'm going to get my computer guru (sp) to help me Mon.
I think this rifle is going to be a lot of fun.
Thanks for the help,

Snuffy

I had one that was just ok accuracy wise. It was fairly reliable - get good mags. As previously mentioned, I think I would go with a little more gun for deer. Not doubt it would kill a deer, but you may have to track it to the next county.

By the way, i sold mine. I just never got into it. All personal opinion though.

AH,
Since you like it so much, I'll tell you the story behind it. As you may have guessed, my last name is Smith. Way back in '77-78, I was a salesman, did a lot of traveling, 5 days a week for over a year. I used a CB like a lot of traveling men and snuffy smith was my CB handle.
In '78, I went to work for the Conwood Tobacco Co., which sold Garrett Snuff among others like Levi Garrett, etc. One day my Dist. mgr was traveling south on 167 near Hampton when I met him headed north. I called him and used my handle and he reacted like you did. He had my business cards printed up with first name, (snuffy) Smith. For six years around south Ar., I was known to all my customers as that. When I started driving a big rig in '92, guess what my handle was? You got it.
LOL. By the way, my now ex hated it when someone would yell out in Wal Mart, "Hey Snuffy". he he.
Now you know more than you cared about.
Snuffy

Smoke from the breach

I just got back from shooting my camp carbine a while ago and I have a dumb question.
The gun performed with no problems other than my shooting but there was some smoke curling up from the breach after each shot.
I have been told that is normal for this type of firearm. Has anyone had some direct experience with the Marlin 9mm camp carbine? Is this normal?
I'm not very concerned as it performed without any failures at all.
Thanks for the help.
