The first clouds of the coming political hurricane

When a hurricane is coming, the first clue people on the surface get is the appearance of cirrus clouds at high altitude, which rapidly bank down into the storm front we all know too well. In the political arena, the first wisps of anti-Obama cirrus have arrived.

The first one was the election of Republican Scott Brown to replace Ted Kennedy in a Senate seat that had been held by the Democrats for more than fifty years. The next one comes from West Virginia, where a pro-Obama Democrat was whipped in the Democratic Party primary.

Here's an article on it:

It won't be just the Democrats, the Republicans will get it too. Senator Robert Bennett from Utah lost his primary as well due to his work on the health care legislation and voting for TARP. The people are fed up with the entire government regardless of political party.

Politicians in both parties have looked down their collective noses at the electorate for years as uneducated dirt beneath their feet so stupid they keep electing them back to office. The prevailing attitude has been "they won't even remember by next election".Well boys and girls,I think that attitude is about to get shoved up their collective asses.

Like the signs and tee shirts say "Stick it down our throat in 2009,We'll shove it up your ass in 2010".

As long as the Republicans end up controlling one chamber of the Congress - preferably both - so the brakes can be slammed on Obama's programs, I'm not fussy. If conservative Democrats willing to make common cause on issues with the Republicans also get elected, that would just be a bonus. The important thing here is to neuter and defang the Obamists until we can toss them out in 2012.

Republicans taking control of the House, (I wish they would all be TEA affliates, but...), is mandatory just to get rid of that insane Madam Speaker Pelosi. Whether or not they have the backbone and morals to stand up to the President and do what's right for the American people by closing the borders and stopping the march to socialism remains to be seen.

Those TEA Party folks have an agenda also. One poster on another forum reported showing up for a rally with a pro-gun tee shirt on and was asked to remove it or leave. He left in disgust.Just another faction trying to garner votes and when they get in you find out it wasn't quite what you thought.

I can't wait to hear the lamestream media's spin on this upcoming political upheaval. Who/what will they place the blame on? Because we can be darn sure it won't be blamed on Obama or the Democrat's destructive and socialist policies.

If you remember the 'contract for america' we saw this same scenario from the other angle. In the years since then we have seen time and again that the republicans are not much different then the dems. If you are going to vote in a doo doo pot full of republicans you will again be dissappointed. Go back and renew your memory of some of the significant disappointments and downfalls by the republicans. (especially after their 'contract for america'.

Two things you need to do beginning this election cycle :
(1) Don't vote for any democrats
(2) Dont vote for any republicans

Well, if the Constitution Party and the Libertarians will get busy now in the primary elections and get some of their party's people elected so they can be on the general election ballot in November then we can have someone besides Republicans and Democrats to vote for.

Mmmm.

interesting observation although in all respect I do see it a bit differently.

I see a tsunami of discontent moving unstoppably toward the shoreline of the American political landscape.

However, I fail to see the Republican National Committee coming out with any proposals to catch the hearts of the voters. They remain brain dead just hoping for anti-Obama feelings to help them out. Thus we have more and more interest shifting toward groups such as the Tea Partiers and the Libertarians (I am a Libertarian more than anything else).

However, when the tsunami actually hits the shore of the American political landscape it may fragment to such a degree as to ineffective.

Note: I received an e-mail from the office of Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn stating the "game plan" for this fall will be the Republicans saying they will pass no legislation opposed by the American people.
This is weak in the extreme and really hopes the American people will forget the disaster known as Bush2 and the Republican majority that gave us wars without direction or definition in the mid-East plus the first round of mega corporate/banking bailout welfare from the Treasury Dept.

The Republicans had best get their act together and come out with a plan that will incorporate much, if not all, major interests of the Tea Partiers and the Libertarians. It needs to be sooner than later.

im honestly against both the democrats and republicans

for instance, the georgia governor not signing the new carry law bill, he has till sometime in june or july i believe, but if he signed it now it could go into affect asap

supposedly pro-gun so whats the problem?

texas governor, refusing to back an arizona type illegal immigration law, because hes worried about hispanic votes

vote the jerk off out, the democrats suck hard, the republicans arent as bad but both groups have lost touch with their voters, empty promises thats all we get from our government

If you wrote in Donald Duck you wouldn't do as much damage as picking the democrat or republican you think would 'harm your country the least'.

I wish I was wrong, but I sincerely believe votes based on that kind of logic over the last 40 or more years have put us right here today. Not to mention the ones who feed on everything that Rush or Beck says and then don't even vote. I know of one like that, and he told me since I voted for Chuck Baldwin instead of supporting McCain( his choice that he didn't bother to register and vote for) that I elected Obama. What failed logic that is. Who is more of a polar opposite to Obama than Baldwin?

I will not waste votes on the likes of McCain anymore.

I see more of a glacier than a tsunami. The lack of people who are willing to actually vote will cause the media types to laugh at the whole idea of the tea partiers and 912 people actually getting anything done except to make some harmless noise after the "remember in November" election.

Voter turnout here was around 20% for the primaries. There is one county in Ohio whose name escapes me that was about 2 votes away from having less than 10% of the registered voters actually vote. And that says nothing about those who haven't bothered to register. If you counted all people eligible to vote, the number of those who impact our national and local elections is depressingly low.

People can complain all they want, but until and unless they are willing to get off their collective duffs and do something, it will have no major impact.

even though mccains a fenceriding sonbitch he would have been much better than obama

for instance i like nader, because he takes votes away from hardcore liberals

by voting for someone who is obviously not going to win, its about the same as not voting (well, not really but still)

i hate to say but i have to vote for the republicans most of the time just because if nothing else the government may not grow

i feel your frustration though

I would say the Bush administration has been far and away the 'ultimate grower of government' bar none.

your kidding? while bush did expand federal powers he didnt create essentially universal healthcare

personally bush was mediocre at best, his first term was fine with me, and his second term, well, he didnt do anything, just sat there

kinda lame, wanted him to fix social security and the border like he said he would if he beat kerry
