Question Attorney General John Ashcroft's track record while in office????

You may or may not be interested to know that Attorney General John Ascroft's younger brother, J. Robert(Bob), is in my Rotary International club. Every Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. we have breakfast together and have a chance to hear Bob's comments on various issues.

My point in posting this comment is that I'd be interested in having you write a paragraph or two about what you'd like for me to ask Bob if the right opportunity should become available.

I've tried to keep up on Ashcroft's stands while in office. Some I don't like and some I do. One stand in particular which I'm glad he's taking is his opposition to California's LEO's using the gun database acquired by dealers for the apprehension of criminals which was supposedly developed to provide background checks on prospective gun buyers.

I second that!

A National or reciprocal concealed carry that supercides any state law!

Always be very careful when wishing for a federal gun law to supercede the state gun laws, you just may get what you wish for, and you might not like it.

As for Ashcroft, I would really like to know what kind of safeguards are going to be put in place to prevent the burgeoning "Anti-Terrorist" task forces and agencies from labeling domestic organizations that don't share the administration's viewpoint as "terrorists" and targeting them.

Good Point Bert!

Actually, your idea is a better one. What is to stop the Homeland security dept from labeling any shooting sports organization as a "Threat" to domestic security?

Question

Bert24b's comment really say a lot for my biggest concern:

He wrote, "As for Ashcroft, I would really like to know what kind of safeguards are going to be put in place to prevent the burgeoning "Anti-Terrorist" task forces and agencies from labeling domestic organizations that don't share the administration's viewpoint as "terrorists" and targeting them."

This really makes me wonder how far the feds will go with their anti-terrorism measures.

Question

Not sure as it was the tail end of Shumers comment on "Homeland Security",but I think he asked Mr. Ashcroft to extend the crime control law that is due to expire in 2004,you might ask how he feels about that!I am sure that would be of interest to all of us. Thanks.

A big one!

Howdy Rave!

That's as important as concealed carry, making sure the homeland security office doesn't smash any more of our rights and ALLOW the assault weapons ban to go bye bye!

If you have a concealed carry permit and have wondered what states will honor it we now have the answer!
Just go to this site and click the state in which you got your permit and it will not only tell you which states that honor it ,but if you must tell an officer if you are packing, most states don't require it,but a few do.
www.packing.org/licensetool/
Enjoy!
