Howa 1500 and Rings and bases

I have a new Howa 1500 heavy barrel with a SWFA SS10X40 (Brand New with Bell and Carlson Medalist), but I have no way of mounting my gun. I want the Burris XTR rings, but WHAT HEIGHT DO I NEED? Clearly, I want it as close to the barrel as I can get. Thanks for any help.

Oh, also using a Legacy base. One or two piece?

With a 40mm bell medium hight should be fine, but it would also depend on the configuration and size of your barrel. Go to walmart and get a el cheapo set see if they fit and it they do either keep the cheap rings (which usually work fine with just a dap of lok-tite) or return them and get a set of leupold rings and not worry about it ever again.
