| Two Charged In Texas Children's Deaths This is beyond beliefe...and sad beyond words. Two Charged In Texas Children's Deaths 3 Kids Found Dead At Bloody Scene Posted: 7:27 a.m. EST March 12, 2003 BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- Police say a Texas woman and her common-law husband have confessed to killing three children found beheaded in a squalid apartment. The woman's daughters, ages 3 and 2 months, were found stuffed in a garbage bag. The couple's 1-year-old son was found on a bed. Angela Camacho and John Allen Rubio have been charged with three counts each of capital murder, and could face the death penalty. Brownsville Police Chief Carlos Garcia said the couple told investigators they committed the slayings. Garcia said that when police arrived at the apartment -- near the border with Mexico -- the couple acted as if they were in a trance and did not resist being taken into custody. No motive has been disclosed. |

| Target practice time! Howdy, These two do not even deserve a trial! I know that the Constitution assures them a trial, and that they should have one. I just think they do not deserve one. Toss em to some hungry lions now! And I wonder what kind of lawyer would take a case such as this, for their defense that is. And I will be real interested to she what defense they come up with. BTW, how could she have kids one month apart, or perhaps she delivered one a month early?

| I saw them on the San Antonio news last night. they still appeared to be in a trance. I don't know if this was the reason or not, but there have been a bunch of cult oriented murders on the border over the past several years. Having been a deputy sheriff on the TX/Mex border I saw it first hand. There's some dark spooky stuff down there. El Brujo.....

| Camacho, Rubio Charged With 3 Counts Capital Murder Posted: 8:12 a.m. CST March 13, 2003 Updated: 8:15 a.m. CST March 13, 2003 BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- A makeshift memorial of plastic flowers, stuffed animals and votive candles grew Wednesday outside the doorway of a run-down apartment where police found the bodies of three decapitated children, all age 3 or under Maria Piñeda, who did not know the children, said her 9-year-old son asked to go to the site so he could leave one of his toys -- a large stuffed bunny. "I wanted to help them," Rudy Piñeda said shyly. The mother of the three and her common-law husband told police they killed the children together, police said Wednesday. Angela Camacho (pictured, left), 23, and John Allen Rubio, 22, each were arraigned early Wednesday on three counts of capital murder, meaning they could face the death penalty. "I can tell you it's on the table," District Attorney Yolanda de Leon said. "Anytime that you have a crime when you have a child as a victim that has died violently, it affects you tremendously," she said. "It gives us greater determination to present as good a case as we possibly can." Police identified the children as Julissa Quesada, 3; John Stephan Rubio, 1; and Mary Jane Rubio, 2 months. The bodies of the two girls had been stuffed into a black garbage bag. Rubio (pictured, left) is believed to be the father of at least one of the children. The couple were taken in for questioning late Tuesday after two acquaintances walked into the apartment in downtown Brownsville about 7 p.m., found the bloody scene and waved down a passing police officer. Police Chief Carlos Garcia said the children apparently had been dead since Monday night. The couple acted as though they were in a trance and did not fight police, Garcia said. "It was like, 'Yeah, something happened. You might as well take us in now,"' he said. The chief said he didn't know whether the children were killed in the apartment or somewhere else. Three knives were taken from the home. "They live in very poor conditions. There's clothes, trash, all sorts of things thrown all over. Very poor, very trashy ... in the worst conditions that anyone could live in the United States," he said. "From a person who has three children, it's very hard, very impacting. I was able only to see the 1-year-old child that was at the foot of the bed. I did not take the opportunity or the courage to even look at the other two children that were in the plastic bag," Garcia said. As of Wednesday, police would not disclose a motive, only that "nothing had been ruled out." The body of the 1-year-old was found on a bed, Garcia said. Police waited for an evidentiary search warrant before examining the other bodies during the pre-dawn hours Wednesday. About 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, a gurney was taken into the apartment. Minutes later, two of the children's bodies were brought out of the house on the gurney; an officer carried a wrapped bundle that appeared to contain the body of a third child. The family lived in the one-bedroom apartment, one of 12 in what used to be a cement block grocery store. The apartment is in a residential area about two blocks from the Cameron County Courthouse and across the street from the Brownsville Boys and Girls Club. Some neighbors said they called police repeatedly about noisy fights and beatings inside the apartment at night. De Leon said he thought Child Protective Services had been involved. Rubio was serving probation on a marijuana charge; police did not have a criminal record for Camacho. Their citizenship status was unclear. Wednesday, Garcia said a toxicology test was not part of the warrant that police hastened to obtain late Tuesday and that authorities did not believe drugs played a predominant role in the crime. After the couple's arraignment Wednesday, Rubio's aunt, Ana Garcia, told The Brownsville Herald that she couldn't believe her nephew could have done such a thing. "If he says he did it, he probably did," she added. "He's a very happy person, a sweet person. I'm shocked. " She said that when she saw her nephew in the courtroom, "It was like a different person." A memorial service for the children was planned for 11 a.m. Thursday on the outside basketball court at the Brownsville Boys & Girls Club, across the street from the apartment complex where the couple lived. Brownsville is on Texas-Mexico border, about 230 miles south of San Antonio.

| It's a sad event, but I'm sorta glad it happened in Texas - those responsible will be punished accordingly. My Brother-in-Law worked three years for a State run call-in hotline for spouse and child abuse. He finally had to switch jobs - it was just too stressful. Now he's a case-worker making sure the old folks are getting their money and helping them with life's necessities - much more rewarding, though still sad sometimes. How someone could do this to their kids . . . I just can't understand it.
