It's sad that we are both old enough to know EXACTLY which version you are referring to....
Mel Brooks really needed to make a LOT more movies...

I had a Clerke once in .32 S&W when I was a teen. I traded a bayonet for it. I had it about two weeks and the kid who traded it to me brought my bayonet back and said his dad wanted the gun back. I gave it back to him, of course. But after closely examining the gun, I could never figure out WHY he wanted it back. The thing was a true piece of junk, made of pot metal and had springs exactly like those used in toy cap guns. I wouldn't have shot the thing on a bet.

I remember when those Clerke's sold for $14.95 new, and an S&W Mod 29 was $140, just to put it in perspective. The guns were cheap pot metal, and are of no value except to a curiosity seeker. I saw one at a gunshow for $50.00 and walked away laughing. Worst part is I almost bought it as a curio. It is best gotten rid of. As was said peviously, the frame is Zamac (pot metal), very cheap springs, and if it fires at all dismal accuracy. The gun will likely fire a few times then fail.

if there is no signs of rust on the gun
and it wasnt previously broken i assume it is 100% usable and safe
my father had a beligian semi auto gun that was stored in a safe for more than 40 years and when i first shot with it it shot just like a brand new one !!
