slide play

I was cleaning my p95 today. After I put it back together, I dry fired it a few times. I noticed there was some play when i shook the gun side to side. Anybody notice this in their plastic rugers? Also has anybody noticed this in the P85 or P89's? I'm sort of thinking about moving to a P85 or P89. Anybody used the metal vs plastic rugers and have an opinion?

The polymer Rugers do rattle. My P-97 did the same thing. As long as the barrel locks up without play,(the Petter lockup through the slide), your accuracy should be fine. I read that writer Ayoob ran over his P-95 with a Jeep Cherokee and then shot a tight group at 25 yds without a failure. I think you may want to consider keeping it unless you just want to get a different Ruger. A rarely seen Ruger 9mm is the KP-94. It is basically the same size as the P-95 only with an aluminum frame. It also takes all P-85/89 mags... just like the P-95.
