Jesse Jackson Off To Iraq To Look For Missing Journalists

NEW YORK -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson said he's hoping to go to Baghdad to help look for two journalists who disappeared from a Baghdad hotel last week.

Jackson said the families of correspondent Matthew McAllester and photographer Moises Samann have asked him to get involved.

McAllester's sister says Jackson could be helpful because of his past success in Baghdad and in Yugoslavia, where he helped win the release of captured U.S. citizens and prisoners of war.

Saman and McAllester have been out of contact with editors at the New York area newspaper Newsday since last Monday. The newspaper believes the two have been detained by the Iraqi government.

Jackson said he hopes to lead a delegation of religious leaders to Baghdad. He said the group will also try to find POWs and others who are missing.
