Bad news fromthe VA..the VFW can kiss my @$$

To make a long story short Ive been fighting the VA to get my disability raised from 70% (50%+30%+10%....dont try to figure out va math)...got lowered to 60% 50+10+10...filed appeal...actualy caled a DRO (district review officer)....some goofball reviews my case (its been 2years to get to him)...the way it is sapose to work is he contacts my services repersnative (No Lawyers allowed in the VA system)...but they do not have to contact them by law...just to be nice....welp guess the DRO was not feeling nice...so under the VA system I get no one to repersent me and Im not allowed to attend the hearing (See lets screew a vet rules).....now my last compensation and pention medical exam the Doctor said Im looking good for and increas and maybe even 100%...so Im all happy.....welp not today home dogs...they left my rateing at 60% and I was told to file an appeal....oh that only takes 4 or 5 YEARS before it is heard.....and expected to get a whole lot longer when the Iraq vets file.....so the last 2 years of waiting was for nothing.
As for the VFW (my service rep) they went oh if we knew he was reviewing your case we whould have went up stairs and talked to him....but we did not know.

Well the way I feel right now the VFW and DAV (they filed the inital claim...but the VFW took over) can KISS MY @$$....the VA says they did contact them...they no showed....so I get the big weiner and that is life...will try to make the hearing in 5 years.

I hate hearing sh*t like this. Goddangit Doglips - tell all these non-vets what it is like to serve and then get the brush off when you need it most - Yehaa - here's to our "leaders" what a fine job they have done. Sure we'll take care of ya, just do your duty boy and don't *****.

It's only gonna get worse cause El Dubya hasn't done a thing to stop what heir Klinton started, he has done more to worsen what Klinton did and I am sorry for the vets that deserve that money - they sure as H have earned it more than those frick'n congress critters and the thing is there is only gonna be more and more vets needing care and there will be nothing to give them. It is truely a shame a real shame.

Stoper I centanly feel screewed both by the VA and the VFW/DAV....I sent about 100 emils this mornign...press...congress criters about every political organzation I can think off..the VFW and even Pres Bush (ok like he will check his e-mail and ream my note)... even sent my story to the local news "investagative reporters" ..who knows there is a VERY SMALL chance 1 of these e-mails..contacts will work....even if they just change VA Math I would be happy..
OH VA Math....for you math majors....think of your body like a pie or pizza....1st disability (if you have more than 1) rateing you get flat out (in my case 50%)...cool.... #2 disability welll bend over...comes from the remaining % (so in my inital case) 30% of the REMAINING 50%...so 30% magic wand please....beomes 15%..but wait its not over #3 (10% in my case)...coems from the remaining 35% of your body (100- (50+15%)) so 10% becomes 3.5%...some in my old case 50+30+10 actualy = 50+15+3.5 68.5% (rounded up if over a 5) to 70%

i can certainly understand your frustration, it took almost three years of back and forthe with the VA to get an increase i had reams of stuff from doctors documenting my condition, appeal after appeal. tried the states Dept of Veterans to assist, they are well meaning but as useful as a knife at a gunfight.

have you tried the Disabled Veterans of America??? they did a bang up job for me!!! cut the crap and got me beaucoup back pay check!!! and gave the DVA a nice donation in appreciation.

you are so right about the VA. it is so underfunded and under staffed. the back log of applications and appeals is huge and grows bigger every day which i think is a major part of the problem.

Papa G. I initaly filed with the DAV as my service organzation....but the VFW was my original (first claim) rep so somehow they took over....I sent e-mail to every one on the VFW's web page about this situation.... The VA swears they told the VFW about the hearing....VFW swears they did not (who to belive)...I even contacted the Jewish American war vets.....

If the appeals are takeing 4-5 yrs now (only took 6 months in 1989)...I can nly imagin the time it will take Iraq service members to get help.
