Question What is the US army standard issue sidearm in Iraq

hey guys, i've been lookin' at the pics in MSN war photo updates in Iraq... just wonderin, what's the US army standard issue sidearm for the troops? It looks like a beretta 92FS, is it?

Youre right, except they call it an M9. But yes it's the 92.

Ya know......I love the Beretta 92 and 96....but I have always wondered why the US Military down-graded to a 9mm para......???????

man, i hated my 1911 when in service! decreased tolerances made them real inaccurate...but the model 92's ive shot were accurate but the 9mm round is way underpowered to me but i dont know if the tollerances in the military 92's are differant than civi models?

Seals and other elite teams HAVE gone back to the .45. Some 1911's and some have H&K's. :right:

The M9's are the same as the civilian 92. The only difference is the prefix on the serial numbers.
I was in right during the changeover from the 1911A1 to the M9. A lot of older military personell hated the change. I qualified with the .45, but had to requal 3 months later with the M9. I shot way better with the .45 than with the M9.

The reason the 1911a1 pistols the government was still issuing up to 1985 where in such poor condition is as simple as this.
The U.S. Government hadnt recievd a new .45 caliber pistol since 1944
