| OK maybe I just over estame the value of human life....after all she did spend some of the money on " two Sony PlayStations" thats got to be worth the life of a child.... Mother Who Sold Baby Sentenced To 15 Days In Jail Posted: 10:50 a.m. EDT April 27, 2003 Updated: 10:54 a.m. EDT April 27, 2003 KENT, Wash. -- A Kent woman convicted of selling her baby boy was sentenced to 15 days in jail, a judge ruled Friday. Virginia Ramsey was also sentenced to 75 days of in-home detention with an electronic monitoring device for selling her three-month-old son, according to a KIRO-TV report. "I find it amazing and to some degree inexplicable," said Judge Richard McDermott. Ramsey, 29, admitted in King County Superior Court that she would be found guilty, but insisted she thought the transaction was a kind of adoption. She said the $2,000 she received was a loan. Prosecutors said Ramsey enlisted the help of her ex-boyfriend, Kenneth Slape, to sell the boy to Slape's ex-wife, Tina Anderson of Spokane. The three met in Covington, where the money and baby changed hands. Ramsey then spent some of the money on two Sony PlayStations, groceries and a trip to a casino. Ramsey said she was unable to care for the three-month-old boy at the time two years ago because of her drinking and drug use. The boy has been adopted by another family. Slape was sentenced to 30 days of work release. Anderson pleaded innocent and is scheduled for trial May 15th. The baby, now two years old, is with a foster family. Copyright 2003 by Local6.com.
