Despite U.S. Resistance, France Ready To Move Into Iraq

PARIS -- France is eager to help rebuild Iraq. So it's sent a diplomat to Baghdad to size up the situation, despite U.S. resistance to a prominent French role.

Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin said his country "wants to be present at the side of the Iraqi people."

A French diplomatic source said the envoy in Iraq is evaluating several issues, including security and humanitarian needs, to see how France might cooperate.

France opposed the U.S.-led push for war in Iraq. It threatened to use its veto in the U.N. Security Council to block military action.

De Villepin said now, it's time to work together for lasting peace in the Middle East.

Nuke France Now!

That last line was miswritten - should've read:
"De Villepin said 'Now, it's time to work together for a lasting piece of the Middle East.' "

They didn't support us, they blocked us all they could, they bad-mouthed us . . . now they want to be partners?!

Sodam Insane hit the French up for gazillion Francs worth of stuff, they want to be repaid, and they need the oil!!!. no humanitarian effort here, its the Moohla-la!!!

Wes got a good idea, let them police the mess.
