Proposed Ban on Hunting in Huron-Manistee Forests

I just read about this on another forum. A man by the name of Kurt Meister is trying to ban hunting and snowmobiling in certain parts of the Huron-Manistee National Forest. He says guns and snowmobiles make to much noise for hikers and birdwatchers. Just thought this might be important news to some of you. I can't find much information on it, so if anyone knows anything please share.

I could understand snowmobiling as they are noisy and tend to run in packs. Hunting, however, makes very negligible noise. Now maybe a shooting range could be noisy when there is continued shooting but a random shot now and then like in hunting, nah. They're reaching.

My guess is that Kurt Meister doesn't hike or watch birds. It is probably just about control. Some people, who don't have lives, take pleasure in controlling the lives of others.

What's worse? Snowmobiles or a BP oil spills? I guess snowmobiles, because no one is planning to ban BP.

The 10 dollar question here is which group provides a larger tax dollar back to the state. The hikers and birdwatchers or the hunters and snowmobilers ? I know hunting is a billion + dollar industry annualy . I would think that as in other states they could co exist and that banning any group would be unneeded. I do beleive as was already stated, that this is more of a control movement not that they interfere with any one elses use of facility. It is more about the dang old hunters are shooting poor defense less bambi . I question given the numbers in michigin of hunters and snowmobilers just how far their state legislators would want to push this.
