Thumbs down A letter from Marcy "Kraptur"....

You remember Ms. "Kraptur" don't you? She's the one who compared Osama Bin Hiding to our founding fathers!!!

Mr. Joseph F. Hall, Jr.
PO Box 6755
Toledo, OH 43612-0755

Dear Mr. Hall:

Thank you for your thoughts regarding firearm reform legislation.

The tragic and senseless events at schools and neighborhoods in America have compelled Congress to consider juvenile justice and firearm reform legislation to address the various "root" causes of crime. Statistics from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program reveal that serious crime nationwide is declining, but gun violence still disrupts schools, neighborhoods, and homes.

These acts of aggression reflect a deep cultural condition with no single solution or immediate legislative answer. I believe the answer lies within the family, with responsible parenting and a focus on wholesome and worthwhile pusuits, not vapid materialistic values. The "culture of violence" that continues to desensitize our youth to the consequences of violence and the value of human life also requires each community to examine how parents, community associations, religious groups, schoolteachers, elected officials, law enforcement officials, and mental health experts can help prevent future tragedies.

My major concern in firearms reform remains the protection of rights, both the rights of all citizens to feel safe in their neighborhods and the rights of law abiding gun owners. I have supported the Brady Law because it has proved effective in keeping approximately a quarter of a million guns away from felons, fugitives and other ineligible purchasers. In November 1998, the five day waiting period was replaced with the National Instant Background Check System. Closing the gun show loophole would prevent guns from getting into the hands of dangerous criminals while protecting the Second Amendment rights.

To assist in the cultivation of positive values and reduce juvenile crime, I believe school systems across America should incorporate cirricula on ethics as well as community service as required courses. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with me on this national priority.

Sincerely,

MARCY KAPTUR
U.S. Representative

WHAT A CROCK OF SH*T!!

The Brady Law was supposed to take away guns from the "bad guys"!! The "250,000 felons, fugitives, and other ineligible persons" includes people who were wrongfully denied/delayed in their purchases because of a -should I say it?- a screw-up on a name that is common or was incorrectly entered into the database. Then along comes the "gunshow loophole" which has proven unfounded and erroneous. Next, it'll be the privately owned firearms because they can be stolen from your home and sold on the black market!!
This has GOT to stop!!! Talk about a waste of time! Give the honest, hard-working taxpayers the right to carry concealed weapons and the crime rate would absolutely bottom out!
Oh, wait a minute here.....
I get it now!
No crime would mean no big budgets for police chiefs, which would mean firing of officers and the closure of smaller departments. Then the big men would have to get a regular job, and Heaven forbid they should actually have to work!!
Basically, ban guns so crime can go up, and the people become more dependant on the government for help. Increase taxes to combat the crime, and all the while claim victory because the guns are now less dangerous because the bad guys who know how to use them will be easily caught.
