Sadly the Body count keeps climbing currently 145 and expected to continue to climb over next few days and weeks. Thanks for the prayers guys, I am in Auckland which is well away from the action and up here we all wish there was more we could practically do. Fortunately all my friends and family in Christchurch are safe. We are expecting a few to arrive soon to stay with us as they are now homeless though they are a bit reluctant to leave.
Like all New Zealanders we are very grateful for the practical help from all over the world we have hundreds of rescue workers and police there now from Australia, UK, USA, Taiwan, Japan, China, Singapore just to name a few. Its times like these you really learn who you friends are EH! So thanks guys.
For those who don't know Christchurch think of a city of 400,000 people where a third of it is gone. You Americans would find it much like home, similar people, houses and business areas with some historic stone churches etc

the last i had heard was something around 170 dead.. expected to go over 200.
The miracle though was that cathedral spire that came in which up to 25 people were feared to have been in... no loss of life.. truly amazing. Nobody was found in the crumpled ruins.
The rescue crews have stopped searching for survivors and are focusing on recovery of those that have been killed. A further four bodies were found today, A member of another forum that I belonged to lost his wife in the earthquake and has only just been notified that her body had been recovered and identified.
Thanks for the update guys. I hope that each loss will be replaced with a miracle somehow or in some form. I will keep New Zealand and all that lost loved ones in my prayers. Have you had any tsunamic flooding from today's earthquake?
