Christchurch New Zealand hit by another big quake

Today Another quake of 6.3 on the richter scale hit Christchurch New Zealand this time it caused more damage than the one they had on the 4th of september last year which was 7.1 magnitude. The quake has caused multiple deaths and injuries and was very shallow it was recorded at 5km below the ground surface in Lyttleton. I have rang Alpinehunter and checked in with him to make sure him and his family were ok and they are fine hope all other members from down there are ok too.

Boy the "land of the long white cloud" has had it's share of grief lately.

It is one of the best places on earth with some of the nicest people on earth.

My heart and thoughts are with you Kiwis.

It makes me sad knowing that the death toll will keep climbing once they start cleaning up the mess.
Prayers sent to all and may God be with you.....

I spent 7 days in Christ Church in 1985. I grew to really like the people and their town. I took a tour of Mt. Cook via small airplane. What spectacular country. I loved the ship's harbor area. Great history. I drooled over one of the best preserved examples of Spitfire MK22 Fighter aircraft in existence there in their Military Museum. I hope that the people and the area recover quickly. ............. Big Cholla

Just to reiterate that I am in the north Island of NZ so I am nowhere near the earthquake zone. Alpinehunter(confirmed ok) and simon Darling are members on here that are near the quake zone

I would like to extend a big thanks to the L.A Fire Department for sending a crew to help with the search and rescue effort and the for their support. And Biggest thanks to you all at G&G for the prayers you all have been sending for those who are in Christchurch.

My nephew and his GF are in NZ right now (hoping to gey a job on the Hobbit movie), But their blog showed a picture of Mt. Taranaki which confused as when I lived in New Plymouth we called it Mt. Egmont. But they are in fact in Taranaki, which is good.

Hopefully NZ's bad luck is finished for a long, long time.

Maybe even the All Blacks could win the World Cup.

What area in the north island are they? I live in the Rotorua area if you do not mind me asking.

Yes there are organisations taking donations for the earthquake victims in Christchurch. The ironic thing is that the insurance companys were coming to an end in paying alternative accomodation costs from the last one so looks like they will have to pay the victims who have claimed a little longer. Former Senator Bayh and his wife were in Christchurch at the time of the earthquake and the words they said on Television were very very moving

Death toll is up to 98 dead

I have supplied a link to pictures that have been taken by media please note there is one picture that has a warning message prior to clicking it. Please do not click that one image if you are easily disturbed or upset as it shows a lady holding her husband while he dies on the street from his injuries.
