Armored Car Guard Admits Taking $400,000
CINNAMINSON, NJ-May 29, 2003 — Authorities say an armored car company guard admitted stealing more than $400,000 from the firm after company officials questioned him about an expensive new sports car he drove to work just days after the theft occurred.
Thirty-two-year-old Perry Vedder of Philadelphia is charged with theft in the May 10th robbery at Dunbar Armored's office in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. He had worked there for seven years.

Authorities say Vedder was seen on video entering and leaving the vault around the time of the theft, but the robbery itself was not captured on tape because office security cameras were briefly disabled.

Dunbar officials confronted Vedder when he drove to work May 14th in a $53,000 Chevrolet Corvette. He was arrested May 16th and was released on $20,000 bail.

I doubt very much if he will see any profit at all. His only reward will be 5-20 years.

The car will be seized, if it hasn't been already.

And, if they haven't recovered the remainder of the $400,00 they will.

They will also freeze any accounts, savings or otherwise, until the money turns up.

As far as the bail....reputable, bonded and licensed bail bondsmen will only accept funds or colateral that they know is not ill gotten.

A $20,000 bail equates to $2000 actual cash given to the court. Many people have access to $2000 these days...somehow. If he offered the bail out of his pocket you can bet the court is gonna start looking all over the place for the remainder (if they haven't gotten it yet).

So, this joker is gonna lose all the way around.

I've obviously known my share of thugs in my lifetime and I can tell you going to jail is often looked at as an occupational hazard. So, there is no deterant for them.

It's all a calculated (or uncalculated, depending on how you look at it) risk in their 'job.'
