| Yipes In to the toilet this one is a headin! BTW 1*, I spent 3 years in a predominately black High School, and I really don't see skin color as a barrier, trash is trash, no matter what their origins. Good people are good people, no matter what their origins. I have had far to many friends and wonderful conversations with people of many races, and I really just do not understand the minds behind a race issue, from any angle. A persons skin color is a pebble in the road, a persons culture is a small rock, and yet far too many people can't get past the pebble. Many others cannot get past the small rock. But I do see where the mindset is coming from with some of the Benton harbor rioters. When you are raised in squaler, run down shacks and in a depressed area, when 90% of the people you know are illeterate, uneducated, around massive drug dealing and use and on and on, well, most people are the product of their environment. A few stars will naturally shine, but many more are extinguished and lost in the shuffle, and I know you see this all, every day. I can see how the mindset says that the police chasing this fellow, caused him to wreck, therfore the police killed him. Which is all wrong from the get go. It all goes to the crap that is being force fed into our society now, no one is responsible for their own actions anymore. And in areas like Benton Harbor, this incident was just a lynch pin. many are rioting out of pent up emotions etc. many are looting to feed a drug habit, and many others are looting so they can get theirs, as the world owes them a living. Sad all the way round. Pretty fancy thinking for a big city transplant to small town America, huh?

| This reaks of rodney king and 1992. It seemed then and it seems now that police don't have the right anymore to chase bad guys driving drunk, going 100mph through residential areas, or those resisting and assulting officers...morons!

| I was not going to post on this thread its just asking for trouble, but I have to say a few things. There is only one race on this planet, and many differnt cultures that is all. I am a biker and make my living with motorcycles. Police do go over board with the pursuits of bikes. Not all of us bikers will run but when the unfornuates do the speeds the new bikes are capeable of right out of the box makes it a danger to the police and the people around them in a pursuit. I didnt mention the idoit biker who is running it is ultimately his fault for any injury he causes to other and himself. When the speeds are over 100mph they need to get a plate # and catch them later. Now for a community to burn down their own neighborhood, thats just insane. They only cost the tax payers money and give the liberals a drum to beat for the media. I would have marched the national gaurd in and put em down in the first few hours. Black white red green skin color does not give you the right to do whatever you want. |

| wow... Some powder keg this thread turned into. Kinda shameful, really. Particularly if taken in isolation, some quotes from this thread make us all look like a bunch of morons: "Declare marshall law and shoot anyone out after dark." - Maybe in North Korea. "any one with a weapon gets shot, period." - Somewhat out of place in a forum for firearms enthusiasts. "Ever notice that when ***** take over a governing body what they govern goes to He11?" - I don't even want to speculate as to what's behind those asterisks, but I bet it's not "puppies". "...now I truly understand how ignorant you are." - Can't we all just get along? Can we now get back to talking about guns and conservative politics, instead of this crap? -Bert |

| Oh gawd...another liberal left winger who thinks no one has a right to an opinion or the righ to say it. Bert, I'd be willing to bet you studied some ultra-liberal theories somewhere along the line. Since I was the one who mentioned the marshall law....let me gess.....suppose YOU lived in a neigborhood where a mob is threatening your life, the life of your family, your home....your possessions and the police just stand by and watch them. My second bet is you'd be screaming for some action to take place. If you would sit back and sat, "Let 'em destroy everything...even what belongs to me' then you are the idiot. If you say, "Do something' you are hypocritical. Either way you've shown your backbone. Wouldn't want you covering my arse when the SHTF.

| I pretty much agree with Bert. Such semi-literate rants do not make us look good.

| I think this thread needs closing. For someone to come in and say that our opinions are semi-literate is tantamount to saying the people that make them are such. Gee, I wish I could feel so revered..so much better than everyone else. As one supervisor once said, "If you don't have a possible solution to the problem then don't criticize those that think they do." Admittingly, I first came into this room because there was far more discussion, and help, involving gun buying issues, suggestions to us that didn't know where else to go, etc. It has gotten to the point that nearly all you find in here now are anything but gun issues....for the most part. And, also I admit I have bought into some of the issues more than, perhaps, I normally would've four years ago. I guess retirement and boredom does that to some people, lol. But, to be frank, there are certain people that frequent this room that obviously feel that their opinions...their thoughts...are the only ones. And, sorry to say, they will be the first to step on their own soap box and. yet, will be the first to condemn others for trying to pull up their own. Call it ranting....calling it raving...but someone has to have havos to tell it like it is. It's those without them that don't stand up for what they believe. For those condemning those who have made comments in here....your thoughts are no better than socialism...Marxism....communism....where those same behaviors, premises and 'laws' exist/existed. Geez, that ought to get this thread closed, he he he he.

| Dale, don't know if you got my PM, but I sent one detailing my position on this, along with an apoogy for offending you. I don't think it's going to do any good for you to start calling everybody that doesn't agree with you a communist. Communism is nothing more than an economic system (a poor one), and nobody here has ever expressed any opinion to the effect that they support it. Ok, you and I (and others) disagree over rather it is appropriate for a government to enforce curfews with lethal force. I'd be willing to bet, though, that we probably agree on about 95% of other political issues. Don't assume that somebody is a "left wing liberal" just because you don't see eye to eye on an issue or two. -Bert |

| When I said semiliterate rants, I meant that they were full of gross spelling and punctuation errors.
