I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, I decided this seemed the most appropriate.
Does anybody own the above mentioned weapon? I have thought about purchasing one but would like someone elses opinion. Is it a 'faithfull' replica? What about the quality?
My cousin just ordered one. If my leg will withstand the trip, I'm headed his direction next Thursday and we are gonna run it through the paces on Friday afternoon.

Appreciate the concern there, Papa. It'll be okay in time. Got messed up in a motorcycle accident last week. Stupid moron who hit me and my buddy thought it was cool to drive while on amphetamines.
Anyway, I should be in Cave City next Thursday night. Won't be too far from your neck of the woods, Papa G.

I had just left the swearing-in process, Papa. My sergeant and chief were the ones who responded. Talk about embarassing! They were cool about it, though. Told me not to worry about the time yet. Just get better and I can hit the road when the doc releases me.
The irony is that I was getting new tires put on the bike so I could haul it down to San Antonio for vacation!

Hey, hkpete! You buying that from New Albany Gun Range or somewhere else? You might want to check Aumillers Gun Store in Westerville. He has all kinds of toys there and has very reasonable prices, too. He'll order you one in, if he doesn't have it. Dan is a great guy.

I don't own a Thompson, but that may be the next one on the list. I looked at them last weekend at Whittaker's gun shop. The standard was exceptionally heavy. It could be used as a boat anchor when it wasn't at the range. The lighter one seemed to be a better fit for me. I have questions about accuracy, and the range of the .45 cartridge. It most likely would be slightly increased due to the longer barrel.
The Thompson is not a very practical weapon for me. I imagine lead bullets would make the barrel a smoothbore due to leading. However, if you had an intruder in your home, he would wet his pants looking at the business end of that finned barrel.
If I remember my history correctly the Tommies made for the Army during WW2 ran in the neighborhood of $200 or so. So, I don't think the prices for the new ones are that outrageous.
It would sure be an interesting close range weapon.....yepper.....fer sure.
I can see it now.....defending yourself during a road rage incident....."Hey, wait...let me dig this out. Here ya go!"
Thirty rounds of .45 ACP will ruin your day......thats fer sure, too.
