I feel Pakistan is really no different than Saudi Arabia. They are both opportunistic nations seeking the best advantage on a day to day basis.
Pakistan does it with shifting political alliances and Saudi Arabia does it with money.

Actually, it is so many, many years past the time to decide not to get involved in these nations. Pakistan has been a nation of opportunity for decades.
We need to detach from foreign military adventurism and concentrate on job creation in America plus put a plan in place to expand, enrich, and empower the middle class.
Not just pull the plug, but go all the way. Withdraw the troops, cut off the funding, order travel restrictions, limit visas and deny help if the Taliban attempts to sieze control. Yes, I know they have nukes, but I don't think India is going to allow even a trace of a launch without striking first.

They cant be trusted because they are a corupt and crooked government. This is the reason why we gave no warning and went it alone to get Bin Laden. If they would have gotten any sign at all then they would have warned Bin Laden that we were coming. They screwed us time after time when we were going to raid these training and bomb making facilities and the Pakistani government warned them each and every time. Their government said that their required to warn their elders that they are going to be raided. We then watched them go to the location and warn them that the US military is coming and they scattered like rats. We have to start using the drones to smoke them before they know what the hell happened.
I wonder if it has ever occurred to the State Department that what might work, at least once, would be for the US military to smash the enemy leadership after we have positively located them; and then have the cookie-pushers tell the Pakistanis about the operation, say, half an hour AFTER the strike has been accomplished?
with all the money we give those countries and the money it cost us to fight them wars we should just pull out and bring our guys/gals home and use the money for a real nice missle shield for the unites states that way they could launch all the nukes they want at us we'll be able to shoot anything down that come even half way close to us. why die for someone who is just looking for a way to kill you .so far to date in history every country we done trained and gave weapons to has turned on us and used our training and weapons to kill us with.
Yes, we should bring our boys back home and station them on our own borders to protect our own nation instead of someone else's. We shouldn't mess in anyone else's business until we get our own national $&*% in one sock. Of course, eventually some nation will beg for our help like Kuwait and so many others have, and if we give it, they'll accuse us of being imperialist swine, and if we don't they'll label us as cold hearted, selfish and draconian. Not that I personally give a **** WHAT they accuse us of.

I'm tending to agree with all of you, but have to hold my judgement until I have a long talk with my son. He's been involved in all too much of this, and may have the answer I'm looking for, though I'm not even sure about WHAT I'm looking for. I try to look at both sides of the argument, and find the middle ground, but I'm not sure if there IS a middle ground to find! I guess what I'm trying to say is the politicians should have kept their noses out of this business, and allowed the military to do the job they know how to do. Politicians ALWAYS skootch the pooch, when they get involved in anything at all!
Nuclear war would only destroy the environment, and eventually the world. If we used them again, they would surely be used by other nations against their perceived enemies, and maybe even against us. I would never want to see that kind of war get started, because it would just end up killing everything on the planet.
