Help change the law banning silencers in MN.

There was a bill to take away the sunset provision (July 2011) that allowed the DNR to possess silencers for wildlife control purposes. It did not make it to the floor for a vote before the regular session ended.

I am trying to get another bill submitted that would bring MN law in line with federal law and allow possession of any silencer that is legally owned and registered in accordance with federal law. The first hurdle is convincing a legislator to actually submit a bill. I have written to the legislators in my old district (8/8A). But I am not expecting them to respond to me as I am currently a WA resident. Anyone here interested in helping out? I can help draft a letter if you are. I will be in MN in August if anyone wants to have a face to face meeting with their legislator to convince them to submit a bill and wants someone to go with.

I plan on retiring to MN in the next ten years, so I am hoping to change some of the more oppressive laws. Thanks.

What can you do to help? We need people who are willing to travel to meet with their legislator to convince them to submit a bill. After the bill is in, we still need to meet with the rest to convince them to support it.

With the regular session over for this year, I am not planning on anything happening. We need to get our act together now so that we are ready if a bill is submitted in time for next years session.

Can you help out? We need to contact a Senator or Representative and ask them to submit a silencer bill.

Back when I was trying to get WA law changed to allow silencer use, I made a video to convince my legislators that silencers were legal to own in the USA and that they served a useful purpose. I made a ROUGH cut of a MN silencer education video that we might be able to use. It contains old silencer footage I shot in Vegas, but I intend to shoot much better footage later this month when silencers are legal to use at home in WA. I still need to gather MN silencer crime data, include a slide on comparative noise levels and generally clean up my voice-overs. I should have a much nicer version available in early August.

Here is the link to the video.

Please tell me what you think.

This is not intended to be an exciting video to show how awesome silencers are, but rather to show how effective and mundane they are. I will burn the final version to a DVD-R that will play on computers, DVD and Blu-Ray players. If anyone wants a DVD-R to copy and give to their legislators, PM me with your address.

Interesting video, but the DNR is allowed to use suppressors again. 609.66 was changed. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=609.66 They did it during the special session. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/laws/?doc...11&type=1&id=2

I tried to talk to my Senator up north but never got past the aide on the phone. No replies to my letter either.

Baby steps are being made in MN gun control. Before It's News

Now licensed MN gun dealers can sell to the police, DNR and government in MN.

Cornish voted for the bill, but it was far from a landslide. I have not been able to find the Senate roll call on the SB2125 though.
