Yeah, been playing about 15 years. I've got a Yamaha 12 string, a couple of decent 6 string acoustics and a Gibson/Epiphone strat look-a-like. Nice jazzy sound to it. Run it all through a Peavey 210 Studio Chorus. Got to play a Les Paul Custom in a store when I was shopping for my amp. Sweet guitar just couldn't see spending $2000 on it at the time.

Whirlwind.....I have seen the Les Paul Goth's in Musicians Friend catalog, but never in person. They also make an SG Goth as well. My lead guitar player plays a 73 Les Paul Custom that he bought in a pawn shop for chump change in the late seventies.

As for twelve string.....just close your eyes and do what you would do when strumming a six.....your fingers will cover each string.

I don't know the difference between a low E string or a high string, a fretted C chord versus a standard C chord.

When I first heard the therm 'pick-up' I thought she was a cheap date.

I dabble with a guitar but, I'm really no good. Just ask my dogs who like to howl along with me, LOL.

My wife got me a Navajo flute (no smart a s s remarks here, Joe)
that I'm gradually learning. I LOVE the sound of a good flute (don't EVEN think it, Joe).

Thumbs up

Dale I won't wise off about your remark either. Flutes are one of the oldest musical instruments I would guess.

"Gutars" I've never tried but I've been spending lots of time on my harmonica trying to get those blues sounds just right. My problem is that I can't read a note. Yup! Ignorant is the word when it comes to reading those little dots and dashes on the sheet of music.

Everything I play is by ear. Mostly, if I can think it I can play it, not necessarily very good but similar to the real tune. Mainly I'm just having lots of fun playing some tunes I like.

Talking

*1 you probably need someone who reads music. My sounds would make the dogs howl. While in Australia I did get to jam with a guitar player and a guy playing spoons, all while we were sipping on Victoria Bitter. Under those conditions we didn't care a whole lot about what sounds were made. Had a group gather around us for a while till we finally fizzled out. Think they were about to start howling, too.

Well, Matt, I tried to learn guitar, but never was good at it. I really could not devote the time needed to get good, and had great difficulty with the left hand positions. I no longer have a guitar, but have some cables, pedals and a bunch of music books. I could bring them to you, if you want them.

I would like to brag a little bit about my brother in law. He is in San Francisco having a recording session. He has won several guitar contests and even Master Guitarist of Houston. He has been playing since he was 12 yrs. old and is now 33 yrs. old. He just never had the funding to go very far. Now he does. He is by far one of the finest gutarists of his time.

Dale, the so-called Navaho flutes are not flutes at all; they are recorders (fancy whistles).
