Hi-Point sent me a few articals (regular mail) about their Carbine....could not find them online but 1* may have this laying around.
Policemag.com december 2002 Arsenal by Roy Huntington: About the Hi-Point Carbine. The Title page (page 61) says it all. "Affordable and functional, but decidedly unglamorous, this basic rifle can run with the big dogs." Near the end of the artical the following is stated "The Model 995 was easy to keep on target and fun to shoot, and as a former cop with over 20 years in the feild, I wouldn't hesitate to stick one of these inmy trunk and put it to work." "As a home defense gun, this carbine can't be beat." (page 64).
Gun Test Magazine Feb 2002 Title "9mm Carbines: Hi-Point Takes on Ruger in self-defense showdown" "Though Rough, our $199 Hi-Point Model 995 9mm Carbine turned out to be a bargain after all. But at $575, we would have to think hard about buying the less accurate, harder to shoot Ruger PC9." Hi-Point "Best Buy" rateing..."If all the Hi-Point carbines are as good as this one, then it's a steal." Ruger PC9 "Conditional Buy" "The Ruger cost more than twice as much as the Hi-Point, and didn't do as good a job as the cheaper gun in some important areas, such as accuracy and ease of use."
American Handgunner 2003 Tactical Annual also gave the Hi-Point pistols a good review.
