So, where's the credible threat?? This strikes me as a solution looking for a problem.
There's nothing wrong with stockpiling vaccine in case there's a terrorist attack that causes an outbreak, but even in that event, it would likely be a strain bred to be antibiotic resistant, possibly requiring a strain-specific vaccine.
And why just "For the children"?
Somethng stinks, and it's not just the Idiot in Chief. (Even though his own wife said he's a smelly bugger. The specific term is my words, not hers. She just said he was "stinky" IIRC).
The tinfoil hat crowd will be burning up the lines at Coast to Coast radio when this get more widespread distribution.

Actually, the real story is that the vaccine has never been tested on children, and they are concerned that IF the time ever comes when we need to vaccinate the entire population (Iran threat??) we have no idea of what dose children might require, or whether in fact the vaccine will even be effective in children.
All things considered, it might not be a bad idea to test the vaccine, which is given to military members, and see if it is indeed effective in children, and what dosage might be needed. This is something that would probably be done only as a worst-case scenario.
An FDA compliant clinical trial wouldn't be a bad thing, but where do you find "volunteers"? If a vaccine for children becomes available, at this point, it should be optional and not added to the list of required vaccinations IMHO.
Personally, if there was a credible threat of imminent attack, I'd take it. I'd get revaccinated for smallpox if it was still available.
I remember growing up around kids who had polio. Measles and mumps are just two unpleasant childhood memories. Had them before vaccine was available. I even got the Salk polio vaccine injections before the sugar cubes came out. Just about my whole small hometown lined up at the city auditorium to get the oral vaccine.
Epidemic disease has changed the course of history many times. Not always for the better.

It said in the article that you have to volunteer your children for the experiment. Seeing as how no one in their right mind would volunteer their child to be vaccinated with a vaccine that know one even really knows works, or what dosage to give to children, I say it will be a complete failure. Considering a lot of mothers are very critical about what they give their children and heavily research things before going through it, I'd say there is nothing to worry about. If they try to force parents to give their children the vaccination, all hell will break loose.
My mother forged a lot of my inoculation documents, mostly because she couldn't afford them. Funny, now, 20-some years after gradeschool, I don't have all the allergies and health problems others do - other than being over-weight, which is my own fault.
