I am in freaking AK heaven!!! (Sorry, gotta brag)!
Forget the Bulgarian SA-M7....I went back to the gunshow this morning and found a PRE-BAN Chinese folding stock AK for $900 dollars! Beautiful deep blue finish....razor straight sites....fit and finish is awesome! Looks like oak upper and lower handgrips and pistol grip. The folding stock is parked tube steel with a very comfortable metal shoulder pad! It is marked:
MODEL AKS-762
CAL 7.62X39
SEMI-AUTO
POLY TECH
BEJING,CHINA
It also came with a hardcase...3 30 round mags with chrome followers with POLY CHINA stamped on the mag floorplates!
The barrel is threaded with a barrel nut at the end to protect the threads. Also has a green canvas Chinese sling attached. The original manual is included, the original box was destroyed but he managed to salvage the box end with the serial number and information!
I sold my V-12 .45 yesterday, and my Taurus Tracker .22lr pistol today...broke even money wise and got an AWESOME AK!
I have to go clean out my shorts now......
:full:

Originally posted by Dale I like the AK but I've wondered if the round metal of the butt would work hard on the shoulder pocket or not? Any ideas, Joe?
commie solders don't complain about such things, or they end up in re-education camps (labor prison).
all NRAJOE needs to do is pick up a copy of the Little Red Book of the Quotes of Chairman Mao, makes a dandy recoil pad!!!
A great pickup Joe. The preban Chinese AKs are a super investment for collecting and target shooting. You will not find a more dependable rifle and the SKS is the only rifle I've found that can equal its reliability. If you have the AK bug, I suggest you check out the Vepr built by Robinson Armament. It is manufactured in: 7.62X39, .223, 5.45X39, and .308. It also runs about 2/3 the cost of a pre-ban AK. Another cool rifle that takes the 7.62X39 is the RAV02 MC. Check out the link:
Found out I have the "rare version buttstock made for Americans...only 200-400 imported..the gun is a 1988 version. Check out the fifth post down, the bottom gun...thats what I got!
Originally posted by BattleRifleG3 I've heard the Recons don't hold together well, that the barrel has a way of coming out during firing. Sad, for such a potentially great weapon.
Didn't know Klaus had one. I know he goes for piston operated 223 semis using M16 mags, which I think are good too. But a few people who have Recons tell of a malfunction called "barrel launch".

Man, I just opened up the Polytech...compared to the Romanian, it's like looking under the hood of a Cadillac, then looking under the hood of a Rambler...what a difference, what detail! :right:
