Civil War Soldiers That Glowed in the Dark

An interesting study on the phenomenon of "angel's glow" in the Civil War.

Nah, I'm pretty sure they were just vampires.

An interesting read for Monday morning. I've read lots about the war, and never stumbled across any reference to glowing soldiers. It just goes to show that no matter how much you may know about a subject, something new will eventually pop up to amaze you! So keep on reading and absorbing all the facts you can!

One of the interestng things I learned during my training was that the correct species of maggot will keep wounds debrided and help prevent infection as they only eat devitalized tissue, leaving healthy tissue alone.

More info available here:

Maggot Debridement Therapy - for wounds status of maggot therapy

The Medical Entomology book in one of my Battalion Aid Station's book sets had extensive pictures and anatomical diagrams to differentiate between helpful and harmful maggots, and was a wealth of information on the numerous species of arthropods that one might encounter out in the bush, desert, or jungle that could impact the health of the troops.

It kept me from getting too bored during quiet times downrange.
