About 2 years ago, i stopped in a local gun shop to see what I couldn't live without...Anyway, a guy was buying a 380 Browning and wanted ammo. The store was all out but the owner said he hoped to have some in in about 2 weeks (during the ammo shortage).
I said that I wasn't trying to steer business away from the gun shop but that I had just left Walmart and saw they had a lot of WWB in 380. 380 buyer looks at me in disgust and said he would never buy Walmart ammo - he wants to be able to depend on what he buys. Gun shop owner jumps on that and says that the WWB ammo that HE gets is top quality while Walmart gets the cheap stuff (his price was about double too)
OOOKAY! To each his own.
So far all of the Walmart WWB that I have used (quite a lot actually) fed nicely and all went bang. I figure that Winchester doesn't have time to set up for cheaper loads for Walmart and better loads for everyone else. And I suspect that if we checked lot numbers we'd find it is all the same production run. It may be sold by Walmart but Winchester's reputation is on the box.
