As you know today is "Mothers Day", but in my little world May 13th is the 85th birthday for my mom. We had a big gathering of family together yesterday to celebrate that event with her. I received my dearest possession yesterday as well. My older sister encouraged mom last year to take pen in hand and to write out some her fondest memories. We were presented with copies of that 18 page document in mom's handwriting along with a few pictures that were scanned and put in appropriate places in the text. My mom is one of those very quiet, meek, unassuming people that we sometimes encounter who seem to almost be "almost totally devoid of ego". She shared those feelings as well in this little manuscript and her feelings of inadequacy or not having much to offer. I'm going to share a part of this word for word though.

I was blessed in having easy births. You kids were my life-all I know I was meant for Not saying I was good in raising you all, but I enjoyed every bit and never had the feeling I had to get away from it. In fact I was selfish I realize now as Grandma Moore said I never let her keep any of you unless it was necessary. "

^^^She was just as focused on my dad as she was on the 6 of us so I can say that my dad and the 6 of us certainly benefited from being at the right place at the right time. May God continue to bless my "MOM".
