Firearms Check... I arrived home after lunch and was checking E mails
when there was a loud banging on the door.
There was two cops at the door, Are you the firearms owner listed on our
inspection sheet,? yes I am. We have been trying to contact you for quite some time now, but you are never home when we call and dont answer the phone, why. Oh we have a very good social life lately and are often away
from home, would you like to do the inspection now?
I dont think the senior cop was very pleased with my answers. But the lady cop was laughing.
So out to the locked shed and then unlocked the safes 3 locks and as I handed each rifle to the woman I removed the bolt and I saw the bloke tick
his notes each time(safety procedures) He said you have more rifles here
than I have on the list how come?
I said the firearms registry has not given me all the paperwork yet and are
about a year behind, they are all in the gunshop Log if you care to check up with the permits to aquire!
After the safes contents were done he said you still have a shotgun, where
is it? Its in the house! So we all troop into the house and I show him the
shotgun, in a loud voice he says WHY IS IT IN THE HOUSE?
I said I have only returned from the Gun Shop where I intended to sell it
and did not have time to store it in the safe when you showed up.O K
He accepted that and said right your clear!
With a gun in the house not locked up you lose everything guns and Licence and a hefty fine to go with it.
WHEW Dont know why I bother with all the B/S.
What a pain in the rear that must have been! So laws down under allow the police to just show up and inspect your firearms? Yikes. How often does that happen?
I pray that liberty prevails in your country. I have a tough time maintaining my optimism. We have won a few battles here in the US; there are so many venal people here willing to give up self-determination for the illusion of comfort.

Dressround- I feel so bad for you and all our gun bearing brethern Down Under. thank you for posting this disgusting experience. it shows first hand what could happen here if firearm owners don't take the treats against our freedoms sereiously. here we have too many people who think that it can't happen here. I wasn't too shocked when England was going thru their gun confiscations. those poor people have been subjects for so long that they didn't know any better. (not all of them but enough of a majority to let it get passed) when Australia who most of us here in the states can relate to and consider a country of rugged individuals and wild places. often comparing it to states like Texas, caved in to draconian gun laws, I was thouroughly shocked. Australia is one of the few places that I thought I would really like to live other than here. since the bad gun laws I have changed my mind. good luck and I hope you can throw off the yoke of oppression and once again be free.
Thank you for the good wishes guys . BUT the misery doesnt end.
With all the bikie drive by shootings in Sydney the state government is now
passing a law that we have to present proof of the calibre of your guns to be
able to buy the ammo for it. The stupidity of that is you can buy cases, caps,
bullets, and powder without proof of owning a firearm just show your licence.
Anyone got a spare room over there.?
Or maybe I can join my son in law in Tennessee.
NRA.....without it would we be in the same situation? i do hate all the mailings and renewal notices but without them i think we would be in the same boat. with our current administration the Constitution is just an outdated suggestion box.
Basically, what happened in the US until recent years was each segment or demographic of the gunning community was always told not worry because the anti crowd wasn't seeking to regulate their firearms, only those "bad" guns of some other segment. This practice among the anti crowd dates to the 1930's when short-barrelled shotguns were outlawed, despite their obvious sporting purposes, by telling the public that only outlaws and bankrobbers could possibly want such a firearm. Fastforward to the 1950's and 1960's and we see restrictions placed on military surplus, imported handguns, and even such unusual items as anti-tank rifles. Did anyone ever really rob a bank or anywhere else with one of these WWI leftovers. But, restrictions were sold as a cure-all for crime and, each time, gunowners bought into these restrictions because these weren't "their" guns.
Wisely, NRA and other organizations brought to the gunowners' attention the obvious fact that the anti crowd wanted ALL firearms restricted and eventually outlawed. Before the latest efforts of NRA, we tended to remain divided into one of those sub-segments like shotgunners, pistol shooters or deer hunters. We MUST NEVER allow ourselves to be so divided again or we risk losing all our firearms to some onerous over-regulation.
As for the original poster, come on to Tennessee. We have reasonable gun laws, good concealed-carry laws and still have gunshows that are pretty decent. And, we're not too hard to get along with.
well come on over to tn its pretty country that is for sure and thank god I don't have to register any of my guns here so bring it on and pack your stuff and get a flight out of there
notice they are ALLOWED to have fire arms there...
i know the state and the city are different.[there]
and y'all that think your stuff ain't on a list allready are mistaken.
i am good friends with our local sheriff and he knows what guns i have, even though he has only seen a few of them.
Thank you for the good wishes guys . BUT the misery doesnt end.

I can understand drive-by shootings in Sydney or elsewhere Down Under - the shootees can't shoot back! It's like a college campus in many of our states - gun-free zone=10-15 minutes free killing time. Note that doesn't happen often if at all in TX, FL, OK and other widespread carry states. Recent history shows such massacres happen in anti-gun states like NY, CA, etc.
We are only one declaration of National Emergency away.
Do not kid yourselves by thinking it can not happen here.
I clicked "like" on your post Ten Man, which in this case means I agree with what you said, not that I like it.
I've learned to keep my mouth shut about certain things on the internet, but if anyone here is caught with their pants down they have only themselves to blame. There are plenty of warning signs to go around here and on the other forums. Eyes open.
