Almost hate to admit I once worked for that dept, but we had common sense back in the 70s when I was there. I do not remember any dept I worked for that required marking firearms with engravers at any time.

The honourable thing to do would be to say "You know what, our bad. How can we make this right?" You know, show a spirit of being amenable instead of one lawyer yapping at another. Even the cops know they were wrong. What happened to people trying to do the right thing instead of trying to vag out on everything?
