Exclamation Electronics help!!!

OKay you electronic guru's. The power supply for the 12V DC Brushless Fan (40mmX40mmX10mm), that's inside the DVR I use with my Security cameras no longer powers the fan. The fan does work. I bought a new one and they tested it before I left with it. It is the exact same thing as the original except instad of it being .8A, it's .13A. Both are 12V DC Brushless.

Does anyone here no where and or how I can connect this fan to another power source within the DVR? Or how to fix the original power source? Or what might be wrong with the oriinal power source? It was working. I'm pretty sure it was at some point anyhow. It's not something I check or even check or checked on a regular basis.

As I said, the original fan is 40X40X10mm and is as I said, 12V DC Brushless. The new one I bought is also 40X40X10mm and is also 12V DC Brushless. The original however .8A and the new one I bought .13A. And I was told this shouldn't be an issue? It should actually spin a little faster and or put out more air. Is this true or should I get the same .8A if I can or go less A rather then go more A?

So, what say you electronic guru's???

shouldnt be a issue as .13 is < .8 other than that is there a transformer inside the dvr for a power supply that runs thru 4 diodes in a rectifier bridge to convert ac to dc check both sides of transformer windings for contuinuity check for 120v to primary winding and should drop to 14-11 v on secondary winding check for any internal fuses for continuity other than those suggestions you could install a small ac adapter powered either by the dvr switch or other, hope I helped.

As long as the new fan doesn't draw more current than the old one you should be fine. Otherwise you may find your power supply getting a little bit warmer..

Are you sure the old one was .8 amp draw ? If the new one is .13 that would make it only about 1/6th the power of the old one. Maybe the old one was .08 amp ?

12v x .8 = 9.6 watts

12v x .13 = 1. 56 watts

If you have your DVR opened up check it over for a small fuse or other current limiting device that would be in series with the fan power. If all else fails you could get a 12 volt wall wart and power the fan with it, of course you would want to put a fuse on it.

Sorry, my bad, that's a typo. The original is/was .08 and I I went to a .13.

And if it helps, it's only a 2-wire positive/negative connection.

I go to plug the fan in and you can see it start to move but it won't spin. I don't know if there's a thermostatic control for the fan or if it just spins 24/7 from the moment the unit gets turned on.

The circuit board for this thing is pretty basic. When I get the energy, I'll take and post a photo and maybe someone can identify what controls it and maybe where I can get an alternate power source.

Thanks for the posts thus far.

Right now I'm just leaving it with the top cover off and another fan plugged in and blowing on it to keep it cool. Working just fine so far. Though I can't and don't want to leave it like this permanently.
