That's Colombian sportsmanship for you! She's prob'ly a daughter of one of the big cartel bosses, and the ref is scared of getting a contract put on his head. They're even afraid to use instant replay for the very same reason! LOL! I wonder if the team is supplied their giddyup go by Daddy?!?!?
I think the only good thing about the whole thing was the receivers attitude. Of the sluger, this is untolerable poor sportsmanship.
This shows poor managment of olyimpic officials that this sort of conduct has no concsequences. I have high regard for the conduct of the US player and feel she acted above it all.

Had it been the US player doing the slugging it would have been a very different story. Oh well very glad to see the US player prove she is the better player.

Love how the other player still tried to shift blame to the U.S.-must be something in the water down there. Let's see, we're responsible for shipping all of our guns down there, we're responsible for their drug problems, we're the reason for all of their gov't corruption, and, we're the reason the majority of their citizens live in poverty. Hell, why not be the reason for one of their players slugging one of our girls...

That pretty much sums it up, it is far easier for Governments around the world to blame the US for their problems than admit that their populace would be better off if the "ruling" class would just admit that they couldn't care less if they tried about how their peoples lives are going so long as they continue their free ride.

No surprise there. Our Traitor in Chief even runs around the world apologizing for it.

I like this part of the article. The mesican says it was an accident. But if you look a the pic it sure don't look like no accident. Just an excuse to get away with something. And at the very end the mesican says that the whistle never blows on the Americans. I would sure like to see the replay as to where all the players were on the field.
UPDATE: When asked about the incident by reporters, Abby Wambach described it as a "sucker-punch" while Andrade claimed it was an accident. From the AP:
"It's interesting - you think about yourself and what you would do on the street if somebody were to sucker-punch you," Wambach said. "And you have all of the lists of things that you would probably do to retaliate, but this is Olympics and I can't risk getting a red card, I can't risk getting a yellow card. We like to call it 'ice' - stay ice cold. They're trying to get me to retaliate, and I'm proud of myself for not doing that."
Andrade called the play an accident.
"Nothing happened," she said through an interpreter. "It was just a normal part of the game. We were both running, she ran across me and we collided. I had my hands in the air. It was an accident."
Andrade also claimed that "the whistle always goes in [the United States'] favor." And that the U.S. players kept hitting the Colombians, but the whistle never blew. She seems to be hoping no one actually saw the game.
There's a part of me that is proud of her for not losing her cool and yet there's a part of me who wishes she would have turned around and beat the chit of that beotch!
It makes me proud of our kids, when they reach deep and go beyond the moment, PROVING the superiority of American upbringing and training. Good sportsmanship is just what it says, and WE teach it better and our kids show it to the WORLD whenever something like this happens. Take the high road, American Olympians, and show the rest of the world that we ARE the BEST!
THAT was an INTENTIONAL act, and the other player should have been removed from the field! I watched the video several times, just to see if it was possible that it was an accident, but it WASN'T!
The babes around my hometown are TOUGH!!! You don't be messing with these women!!! Abby is appearing in the raw in Sports Illustrated, along with other athletes. I've seen the pix and they are remarkable. She's built like a brick shipyard.. She's 5'10", and all muscle.
I like that body check performed by Wambach on her attacker a few plays later...on the Vid above
Nice move!! and a lot more believeable than the punch done by Andrade
Reminded me of a nasty trick that Lacrosse players use on occasion...no doubt the soccer players learn
Big Shrek , I agree the penalty was light ! This was a intentional act of violence and should not have been tolerated . I think it sends the wrong message that this is somewhat ok. Yes she should have been done at the olympics for this go around . If she makes it back in four years she could try again.
