Thinking back to the Vietnam War, didn't our Special Forces build forward camps in enemy territory with just earthworks and sandbags? Of course, they had Navy construction battalions to assist them with heavy equipment but those camps were as effective as forts and they went up quickly and were nowhere near as expensive as stone fortifications. You could also replace your grass lawn with a rock garden, rocks don't catch on fire.
Just a thought for those who live in rural areas. If possible take a tractor and create a bare dirt barrior around your home, kind of like a fire lane that they plow out around a wildfire wherever possible. Cut it 8_10 feet wide and work from that. I know it would not be possible for everybody to do that but it might help some folks if they can get something like that built.

The fire is now out. All roads are open again and my wife's side of the family are all going back to their homes. As for me, I'm still watering around the house trying to keep all the vegetation green. We need some cooler temperatures and rain bad!

Unhappy

Just heard on the news that the fire in Cleveland County consumed over 9,500 acres of land, houses, mobile homes, and other various out-buildings. Not only have they lost their homes and possessions, some have lost livestock and pets. Now it time to go help out my fellow Okies in their time of need.

One fatality from the fire...... The body of an elderly woman was found in the rubble of her home. God bless her.

Sadness Prayers

Brother Bob: Sir, may the "scumbag" fire starter be caught. May the good folks understand, how we have prayed for each, including pets, livestock and property

May these same good family's be witness, as "scumbag" is boiled in used oil, on a low fire
